Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 39th hat-trick of his Real Madrid career against Atletico in the final Madrid derby at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday evening.

In the process, the Portuguese superstar set yet another record.

Ronaldo has now bettered the great Alfredo Di Stefano’s record of 18 goals scored against Atleti. With 19 goals, no player has scored more goals in the history of the Madrid derby than the three-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The 31-year-old is also Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer – in all competitions and in La Liga – while he also boasts a host of other impressive goalscoring records.

However, there are nine more Madrid records – per Squawka – that Ronaldo can aim to break before he leaves the Bernabeu. Given the fact he signed a new five-year contract this week, combined with his desire to play into his 40s, don’t rule him out from achieving the seemingly impossible.

ALL-TIME TOP GOALSCORER IN LA LIGA HISTORY

Realistically, the only way Ronaldo will be able to become La Liga’s all-time top goalscorer is if Lionel Messi leaves Barcelona at the end of the season.



Messi has scored 320 goals in the Spanish top flight.

Ronaldo, who is two years older than Messi, has netted 268 goals.

MOST GOALS FOR REAL MADRID IN THE CLASICO

Messi is the top goalscorer in Clasico history (with 21) but Ronaldo (who currently has 15 goals against Barcelona) can become Madrid’s all-time leading scorer in one of world football’s most iconic fixtures.



Di Stefano scored 18 goals against Barcelona and you certainly wouldn’t bet against Ronaldo surpassing that tally over the next couple of years.

MOST GOALS SCORED IN A SINGLE COPA DEL REY SEASON

The legendary Ferenc Puskas scored 14 goals during the 1960-61 Copa del Rey campaign.

The most Ronaldo has managed to score in a single Copa del Rey campaign is seven.



However, given that Ronaldo is usually rested for the early rounds, it’s hard to imagine him ever beating this particular record. We’re not sure he’ll be that bothered, in fairness.

OLDEST POST-SECOND WORLD WAR GOALSCORER

If Ronaldo gets his wish, he’ll still be a Real Madrid player when he turns 40.

And if that happens, he would have broken Puskas’ record as Madrid’s oldest post-Second World War goalscorer.



The Galloping Major set the record when he scored against Sevilla on November 1965 at the age of 38 years, 233 days.
