The Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) has released the list of nominees for their 2016 edition.

The 10-year-old award show has released its list of nominees for this year. The award has 23 categories with Nigerian music heavyweights like Phyno, Wizkid , D’Banj, Yemi Alade and Flavour competing in various categories. We decided to make some predictions of the winners in some popular categories based on what we’ve seen, and we really do hope the best videos win.


1. Best Afro Hip Hop Video

Falz Ft Olamide & Davido – Bahd , Baddo , Baddest

Yung6ix Ft Stoneboy – For Example

Zoro Ft Flavour – Ogene

Cdq Ft. Wizkid – Nowo E Soke

What we think- The songs in this category had great visuals accompanying them, and we definitely think the ‘Bad gang’ video will take the prize home.



2. Best Mainstream Hip-Hop


Splash Ft Vector – Agege

Olamide – Eyan Mayweather

Skales Ft Kenny Wonder – Fara We Mi

Falz Ft Poe & Chyn – Chardonnay Music

Burna Boy Ft Phyno – Duro Ni Be

What we think- The visuals for ‘Chardonnay music’ were really great, but ‘Eyan Mayweather’ has a great shot at clinching the award too.
