I am a firm believer of promoting Naija but mehn the songs they release these days are practically porn! A few years back when Timaya’s ‘Ukwu’ was released many people found the video unappealing despite the fact that the track was a hit. The song was so popular that supposing your backyard is well packaged, God have mercy on you! Little boys and jobless young guys alike would keep whistling and shouting ‘ukwu’ while you are walking on the streets. It was embarrassing for those who don’t like such attention.
However, in retrospect, that video seems to be rather decent. Recently I stumbled upon some OAPs (on-air personalities) looking for ‘clean’ videos to play on TV because Northern TV channels frown on provocative videos. It took a lot of searching before they settled for not-so-recent songs.
Sad! All that seems to be in vogue is about how big her butt is and how well packaged she is and all the nasty things a guy would want to do to her and the video would make you do the sign of the crucifix a million times if you have the grit to sit down and watch it from beginning to end. What is even sadder is that this is what sells. Do a ‘clean’ video and it hardly ever makes a hit except if you are someone like Darey or Timi Dakolo.
The market has become flooded with so much garbage that some guys can hardly control themselves around big booty. A woman should not be judged based on her body statistics, despite what Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj have made us believe.
We always claim we have a strong culture but that same culture condemns half-naked women. Even if the West says the way to sell your music is by using women, sex, money and strong language, let’s show them that no be d same papa born us.
#BringBackOurClothes.

so guys what do you say?

Our songs seem not to make our ladies valuable. It just saddens our heart that that is exactly what sells.
post things about nudity and sex here and you will see so many likes&views.

Has anyone noticed the content of the songs these days are filled with repeated chorus with nothing to add?

Sad to say that some women actually love that kind of attention.

Mtcheeeeeew! You're talking and shouting about Nigerian music degrading women. First go and hear Hip hop music then you'll know the meaning of misogynistic lyrics. Hip hop itself is misogyny.

Nigerian music is nowhere near being misogynistic. Our ladies even love the misogyny in the music. Am a DJ and whenever I play the tracks, 'Pate Obo', 'Customer dada ni' or 'Ashomula' na women dey turn up pass. These are songs that degrade women to the very lowest.... Let me give you some of the lyrics. You'll only understand if you're Yoruba

Pate obo..... Pate obo ko le ta! Din din din din din! Pate obo ko ke ta. Is he ni olosho n se

Ashomula... Melo ni obo re melo ni obo re! One bay, two bay, three bay, four bay... (Imagine pricing women's veejays like kpomo in the market) and the women dance very hard when they hear the music.

Women are the cause of their own troubles
