The EFCC is collaborating with the Aisha
Buhari to involve Nigerian women in a
nation- wide sustainable fight against
corruption
– The programme is scheduled to be flagged

much touted anti-corruption fight of
President Muhammadu Buhari has been a
failure
Aisha Buhari is to flag off the Women Against
Corruption (WAC) in Abuja on December 7, 2016.
The wife of the president, Aisha Buhari has given a
boost to the current anti-corruption campaign by
engaging Nigerian women in a nation wide sustainable
fight against corruption.
The involvement the wife of the president in the fight
against corruption came about from a collaboration
between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
(EFCC) and the office of the wife of the president to
get Nigerian women to support the fight against
corruption.
The programme which is tagged: Nigerian Women
Against Corruption, (WAC), was initiated based on the
significant role of women in the family and in the
society at large, leadership reports.
According to the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren,
said the programme is scheduled to be flagged off by
the wife of the president, Mrs Buhari, in Abuja at the
International Conference Centre, on December 7,
2016.
“WAC is aimed at getting the women to buy
into the corruption fight and to raise the
consciousness of the consequences of
corruption in the minds of their household in
particular and also to create awareness of
the evil of corruption in the larger society.
“Significantly, the WAC programme is coming
up on December 7, 48 hours before the
internationally celebrated anti-corruption day
which is Friday, December 9, 2016. The
crusade will later be taken to the grass-root
through the state and the local governments
across the country, ” the EFCC said.
Uwujaren noted that the acting chairman of the EFCC,
Ibrahim Magu has endorsed programme on the basis
that the women engagement will enhance the fight
against corruption.
Magu said women will thereafter help to act as watch
dogs, foot soldiers and whistle blowers against
corruption and to drive the regime of probity and
accountability.
“A woman who has the ability to build a
home can as well tame the corruption
monster.” Magu noted.
Meanwhile, popular human rights lawyer, Femi Falana
(SAN), has stated that the much touted anti-corruption
fight of President Muhammadu Buhari has been a
failure.
According to The Authority, Falana made the comment
while speaking at the 4th Convocation Lecture of
Oduduwa University, in Ile Ife Osun state.
The fiery lawyer also warned President Buhari against
the proposed $29.9 billion loan the federal government
seeks to borrow from China.
He said only 50 percent of the loan amount will ever
arrive Nigeria, while future generations will be straddled
with the responsibility of paying the loan.
