Google has started rolling out an update to your Google Maps that will help you know how crowded a place is. This is to help you make a decision whether to visit when a place is busy or when a place is less busy. This feature is just an improvement to the “popular times” feature that lets you know when a place is most popular during the day but this new feature functions in real time.


According to Google, Data that helps make this feature is very hard to come by and that’s why it had taken the company a while to implement it. Additionally, Google map can now tell you how long people typically spend at a place, this is to help you know how easy it will be for you to get into a place, how long you can stay there and how easy it will be for you to get a seat.

“place” as used above here, of course, refers to public places like restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, bus stops and the likes.

Google has not outlined a particular way to get the update, so sources are claiming that the update will roll out slowly worldwide. So if you don’t have the feature yet, do not fret. It is coming soon.
