Culture is different, in Nigeria we naturally have this showoff attitude, from the loud way we talk, to our elaborate dressing, parties, funerals etc. But don't be mistaken, white guys do far worst, I have been to a beach were white guys pop bottles of ACE and just pour it off. They don't drink it, they don't use it to "wash hand". Just pour it off. I have seen Champagne pools, where they fill a outdoor pool with Champagne.
