Forget Hollywood,my Dream Is To Be A Writer In Nollywood! by YoungLady(f): 6:20am On Nov 09, 2009
I started watching Nigerian movies about a year ago and I love them so much that I just want to become part of the action but I don't know how.I've spent hours searching online as to who/how I can contact to market my script/ideas but there's such a lack of information.I even asked the few Nigerians I know when I visited home(Botswana) a few months back but everyone seems clueless.I strongly believe that as a young person who's got a diverse experience of cultures/languages I can make a significant contribution in terms of bringing another dimension to the storylines.I would really appreciate any information as to how I can try my luck.  wink

Well we have different Dreams, I would love to be a writer of a movie but not in an industry that you might get demonised for showing half a nipple,

@poster
Nollywood definitely needs better writers because some of the scripts out there really sucks.
i wish you all the best and hope that more people who can truly write make it to the top out there and make a change for the better of what is a dreadful industry (so far).

lol@half a nipple! The conservativeness is Naiga movies used to astonish me but I came to the conclusion that perhaps you don't rate your movies so naturally you must make them suitable for family viewing.

Thanks for the encouraging words Mr Brown.I believe I'll get there one day,

I dont want family movies, I like horror, War, Adventure, Drama, Romance etc, can you imagine SAW VI, Mr and Mrs Smith or Basic Instinct with Nollywood actors/actress it would look like an on stage drama

Yeh I can imagine! Nigerian movies are just so specialised in love,religion,flashy cars,inheritance themes etc. This is why I say I want to bring in a new dimension as a writer.I love horror too.I'm a big Saw Fan(just saw the latest last weekend) and in all honesty,Nollywood would not be able to pull that off with the desired effect on audience.

great idea! smiley

well the best people we have in nollywood now are Tchidi Chikere and Emem Isong.
we need more peeps than that.
you are WELCOME!! come and bring some diversity to Nollywood.
and i personally LOVE horror films, i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a nollywood horror thats actually scary.
right now, Nollywood's definition of horror is voo doo movies and people casting spells on others and dead people appearing to you. lol
it does scare you alright (well at least me. lol) but i would like to see REAL horror.
great idea you have there. smiley
