I have for once wondered what is wrong with Africans and their inability to match the other world counterparts in technology, is it that the barber cannot barb or the razor blade is blunt, but I want to focus on Nigeria precisely the so called giant of Africa that cannot produce even a pencil and Our over dependent on foreign products.... What is wrong with Nigeria?? What is wrong with our youths?

Here are reason why I think Nigeria and Africa at large are lacking Behind in Technology and Invention.

1. Poor Education Sector

It is not about teaching everything already written in books, what is the practical aspects of it?.. If you teach a student that pen is made of ink... How? I think that Nigeria Education sector needs an upgrade to match the world trend in technologies, cause for now it is just like an ant in an elephant fight.

2. Government Ignorance On Technology

This is even worrisome that at this point of century, Nigeria Govt can not fund any specific School of Technology, why the ignorance that technology is like mathematics? Only solving without real adequate practical work. Do you know how many millions US Government spend to build just one warship?? Meanwhile Nigeria Govt depends on Innoson for little spare parts for our warplanes when we should be building one by now.

3. Lack of Interest

This is the most pathetic aspect of it, a promising young boy will build a magnificent invention in hope to be an Engineer in future, only to find out he is learning trade in Alaba.

4. Lack Of Investment

Everything is not about Government, our elites is the most narrow minded individuals in this country, is not about gifting chump change to our young inventors... Will it take them anywhere? Or can it help him match other young mates around the globe in future? Only you can answer that

5. White Collar Job Mentality

Everybody wants a paying jobs, everyone wants to be a graduate and make his/her CV the closest friend meanwhile in the mist of this graduates they are real scientists and inventors in making but all wasted at that moment.

I will drop my pen here, you can add your points at the comment box.

Thank you

that's the sad reality, we spent years in school reading so many outdated and irrelevant books that adds nothing to the society and nobody is doing anything bout it
