Our attention has been drawn to some unfounded allegations making the rounds that the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, ordered the demolition of the Ilaro, country home of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, otherwise known as Yayi.
For the avoidance of doubt, it must be clearly stated that Governor Amosun has no hands in whatever may be going on with the said property.

Contrary to insinuations making the rounds, the property in question was first served contravention notice by the Ogun State Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning, on January 6, 2014.

At that time, the owners of the building, which was then at window level, were duly alerted to the fact that the structure was being put up illegally and without approved plan.

The contravention notice also advised the owners of the property to come up with all documents in support of their case, “including development permit to the undersigned within 24 hours of this notice on you.”

When that particular notice was ignored, it was followed with another notice dated, January 28, 2014, which was also ignored while the owners of the contravening property continued to develop in flagrant disregard for the laws of the land.

It was under this circumstance that the state Urban and Regional Planning Board Development Control Department issued yet another contravention notice to the owners of the said property, this time, on December 6, 2016.

The said notice gave the owners/occupiers of the property, which is now fully built and in use, in flagrant disregard for all previous notices, 3 days to come up with its approved building plan.

Contrary to claims of the sponsors of the misinformation flying around in the social media, the latest notice, just like the previous ones, which were clearly ignored, was not for demolition. It simply, for the umpteenth time, requested that the owner of the contravening property comes up with its approved building plan within 3 days.

As it is the standard operational procedure, it is only after this notice is ignored that a demolition notice will then be issued on the owners of the contravening property.

It bears repetition that this whole process is totally within the routine, legal operational procedures of the state Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning and has nothing to do with the person of Governor Amosun as erroneously claimed in some quarters.

Ever since Amosun imposed Mrs Adeosun as d finance minister on the cattle rearer, despite documented allegations of corrupt deeds against her while she was finance commissioner, was wen i knew his ways are not pure.
If an audit of houses owed by politicians is done,i am sure 80% dont av complete building approval,so y single out Yayi if there is no political undertone?

Someone I know bought a land at an outskirts of a state capital in Nigeria to get away from another house he poured my life savings into to get away from noise pollution and clustering of various form. The lawlessness of building convertion is eroding quality of life . If you don't have money to buy or build a house in GRA you are left at the mercy of neighbors who build a mosque or church right inside their residence space and others who turn their front or side egress area into mini mall with shops the size of large cubicle.

Some have goats and rams roaming with motorist and cyclist swerving to avoid crashing into them yet only few years back it was a quiet peaceful serene neighborhood with paved streets! Absent of government regulation has ruined it. Now the new project was surrounded by religious buildings in stages of development . There was 4 churches and one mosque within 300 meters of the new project as at last count. The government only care about where they live. You could build a house on a street and get away with it in this lawless society where they pretend to be more Catholic than the pope.

People should stop crying witchhunt when they have no approved plans for their buildings. Let the courts decide.

Very very unprofessional set of people. Demolition should have been from an order from a competent court of good jurisdiction and not from those who ascribe to themselves as god's. Other option are there like making him pay through his nose as a fine and making the building redundant for use. Instead of demolishing and wasting money. Animals.

But if Senator Yayi's house is up for demolition, what of the Oba palace in the same vicinity and even much closer to the road? The road in question is even a federal road for God's sake.
