Haemorrhoids, a condidtion which many refer to as "Pile," and others confuse for "Jedi-jedi" can be very troubling for those who suffer from it. What is it really? What are the causes and available treatment plans? Let's find out.

Haemorrhoids are swollen veins inside or outside the anus.
When they lie inside the anus, they are called "Internal haemorrhoids" and when outside the anus, they are referred to as "External hemorrhoids." Sometimes, an internal haemorrhoid can distend outside the anus and become a "Prolapsed haemorrhoid." This is the type that can be pushed back inside the anal canal, depending on its stage.

Although all haemorrhoids contain blood, they are supposed to be painless. However, the blood in a haemorrhoid may clot and cause it to become painful. This is known as "Thrombosed haemorrhoid."

Causes (Some causes are preventable)
1. Straining while passing stool
2. Eating a low fiber diet
3. Sitting for too long on the toilet
3. Pregnancy; obesity
4. Anal intercourse
5. Chronic diarrhea or constipation
6. Aging; genetics

Men are more prone to hemorrhoids but the chance of a woman developing it increases in pregnancy.

The Signs You See!
1. Swelling or lump along the anal region
2. Bleeding: in minor cases, you may notice blood stains on used tissues
3. Itching around the anus
4. Pain from a thrombosed hemorrhoid

What To Do/Home Treatment
1. Wash area with warm water. No soap!
2. You can do a sitz bath
3. Don't use dry tissues. Try using water or wet wipes when you use the toilet
4. Use the right suppositories/drugs to reduce pain & discomfort
5. You may take painkillers to reduce pain

Plus preventive measures

6. Eat lots of fiber (cereal, fryits, vegetables). Avoid constipation
7. Lose weight if you have to; obesity increases risk
8. Be active. Sitting or standing for long worsens risk

Please see a doctor so you can be evaluated for medical treatment. There may be other prescription medications that may help your condition and your doctor can also determine if surgery is a treatment option. Please note that haemorrhoids are not the only cause of rectal/anal bleeding!

Hello. The drug of choice depends on what the primary issue may be at any point. The need could be for painkillers (in a thrombosed hemorrhoid) or suppositories such as dulcolax and anusol to soften stools and prevent irritation/discomfort (respectively). It is always important to work with a doctor on a treatment plan. Many times, a doctor would be able to prescribe a more potent medication should the need arise.

That is correct. Many times people think it is everything that is drug. Do not buy any herbs or drugs from someone online promising 100% cure. Such thing does not exist. See your doctor for proper treatment.
