'Nigeria is the Giant Of Africa'.

Believe it or not, that phrase used to be true. Even if that statement doesn't evoke the same respect and feelings as it used to, you still can't bury the fact that Nigeria truly enjoyed some good old times.

Times when things were way better than they are now.When making a great head-start in life as a young graduate was really very easy. When the great lines and tunes of the Nigerian anthem stirred feelings deeply seethed in the confines of every Nigerian heart.

When Nigerians were proud to be called just that -- Nigerians!

How we miss those times! When the Nigerian Naira held more value than the dollars.

A conscientious Nigerian who was probably as surprised as i am now at this little fact sent her mum's International passport that showed that Naira was worth more than dollars in 1981.

"I'm an ardent reader of your blog and thought I share this with everyone. Stumbled on my mum's old int'l passport and apparently Nigeria was once a great country. Once upon a time N1000 = $1480 back in 1981"
