I have earlier done a write up on this forum, similar to the one I'm about to drop here now. That one concerned only etisalat subscibers, but this one concerns all networks.
This information is for telecom subscribers in Nigeria...there is now a fantastic service involving all the telecom companies in Nigeria, with the active acknowledgement and approval of National Communications Commission (NCC)-meant for telecom subscribers to stop receiving unsolicited texts/calls (which are officially known as 3rd party marketing texts and calls, because those text messages and calls are mostly from 3rd parties...for marketing purposes). The service is also known as "Do-Not-Disturb" service (or DND service) and is done through a shortcode, 2442.
Now, to opt out of unsolicited 3rd party texts/calls (or to activate DND service), simply do a text message from the line for which you wish to stop unsolicited texts/calls, with only this message: STOP, and then, send it to 2442, When you do that, you will receive an auto response from your network provider that your request will be effected in 24 hours or that you have successfully activated the Do-Not-Disturb service on your line. Here is further information about/a brief summary of the service:
*To ACTIVATE DND service and stop receiving unsolicited messages/calls, text STOP to 2442.
*To DEACTIVATE DND service and keep receiving unsolicited messages/calls, text CANCEL to 2442.
*To check your DND status, text STATUS to 2442.
*For all options, text HELP to 2442.
