Smart Police App: An App For Reaching The Nigerian Police In Emergency Situatons by TechLector: 7:36am On Dec 12, 2016
We live in an age in which a whole lot of occurrences have become much digitalized and usually happen with the click of buttons. The perpetrators of crime are not left out of the digitalized (computer) age in which we live in. As a result of this, law enforcement agencies all over the world have risen up to the occasion. Moreso, the Nigerian Police Force is not left out of this trend either.

With the Smart Police app, one can now conveniently send reports of incidents of robbery, assault, rape, theft and other ugly incidences to the Nigerian Police Force (Lagos State Police Command). All reports sent in can also be monitored from the app as they are being treated. All these can be done from the comfort of one’s bedroom and without revealing one’s identity.

The Smart Police mobile app is an innovative security app which was launched by The Nigerian Police Force (Lagos State Police Command) on the 7th of January 2016 and updated on the 17th of February, 2016. It is the first of its kind in Nigeria and is also the most popular security app currently being used in Nigeria. At the moment, the Smart Police app is available for download from the Google Play store only and will be made available on the Apple store with time. Although the app is very widely unknown, it already has over ten thousand downloads.

Smart Police App Review – How to download and use the app

To make use of the of this incredibly awesome app, pay a visit to Google Play Store and search for the app by typing “Smart Police”. With a fairly fast internet connection, the 5.34mb mobile app can be downloaded and installed in less than five minutes. After the app is downloaded and installed, it opens to a page which contains two buttons, one for reporting incidences and the other button is the panic mode button.

On this page, an incident can be reported by the click of a button on the bottom right corner of the page. However, the panic button can only be taken advantage of by registered users. Also, the panic button can be used to record brief descriptions of the incident and sent by clicking police report. This is immediately sent to the police force.

The next page this mobile security app opens to is the page through which a user can view his or her profile, also the page leads to the login page. Logging in can be done through one’s email address or through the user’s Facebook account.

This Smart Police mobile app is very user-friendly, as a result of this, logging in and logging out are easy and can be achieved by following simple instructions on the screen.

Usually, an unregistered user cannot make use of the panic button, as a result of this, to make use of the panic button, all a new and unregistered user needs to do is scroll down on the login page until the signup signal appears. Signing up can be done in less than a minute, from this point the user is completely ready to maximise usage of the app.

This app is a very secure one as information sent in via the app cannot be seen or accessed by random individuals except by approved officers of the Nigerian police force.

Big ups to the Nigerian Police Force for their creativity.
