This country is a joke. Nobody cares to know how far has the 2016 budget been implemented, yet another charade called 2017 budget is being rolled out today. Huge amount of money was budgeted for capital expenditure in 2016 budget passed some months ago, but how many roads and other capital projects have been initiated and completed so far. There is no budget monitoring, no budget appraisal and so on. Do Nigerians actually know the meaning of the term budget?

Yes,and this is an issue that was addressed.It is difficult to feel the effect of a budget that was passed barely 8 months ago, especially with the procurement processes we have in place which sometimes takes up to 6 months. We need to do a lot of restructuring in this country to remove unnecessary bottlenecks and get things done quickly, so that our people can feel the effects of such budget.


I think the amount budgeted for education is small though.

You're right. Most Nigerians,especially the youths are more interested in fighting e-wars. They don't even know what was in the budget to start with, not to talk of monitoring. However, some of us do take an interest in these things and use the internet and other news outlets to follow the process. Anyone who wants to know how much has been released for capital projects since the 2016 budget was passed and what projects are currently ongoing can find this info readily online. The real question is how many people really bother to? They would rather complain and insult government and each other for hours, instead of getting informed and asking relevant questions from the government.
