Thousands of youths from the 21 local government area of Anambra State gathered in their numbers at Ekwueme Square Awka, to endorse the state governor, chief Willie Obiano for his second term ambition.
The venue filled with Pomp and ceremony also attracted many cultural troupe.
speaking, Governor Willie Obiano agreed to accept the request by the youths for him to contest next year's governorship election.
Governor Obiano who described youths as the future generation of any nation, noted that his administration was committed to the improvement of their welfare.
The Governor noted that over eighty thousand youths have so far been employed by government in different sectors of the state economy.
He promised that government would it's effort to ensure greater percentage of them were gainfully employed .
Chairman organising committee of the event, Mr George Udedibia said the aim of the occasion was to reaffirm the support of the youths to the present government in the state.
This he noted was because of the responsiveness of Governor Willie Obiano led administration to the yearnings and aspirations of youths in the area.
He stated that youths constitute forty five percent of members of the state executive council.
The Chairman commended the developmental strides of the government , stressing that with the visible transformation of all sectors of the economy, the state was on the verge of being launched to heights unimaginable.
On his part, the Leader of the United Youth Assembly and Special Adviser to the Governor on Political matters, Mr Chinedu Obidigwe described the Governor as a man of his words, stressing that in just one hundred days of his taking over the mantle of leadership his administration was able to rid the state of criminals.
Mr Obidigwe stated that the huge investments attracted by the present government was indicative of its commitment to the development of the state.
He commended the government for the prompt payment of the state workers salaries.
The Special Adviser who pledged the support of youths in the area to the efforts of the government to develop the state, said the United youths assembly was endorsing the Governor for a second term in office.
He said the youths were ready to task themselves to contribute to the Governor securing a form in Apga to contest the 2017 governorship election.
The Special Adviser disclosed that the youths had procured 10 motor cycles and four mini buses to campaign vigorously for the Governor in the forthcoming election.
He said gone were the days when some politicians who according to him had failed the state would come to influence the youths to vote for them.
The National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, noted that the youths' support for the Governor to contest the coming election was indicative that there was no vacancy at the Government House.
Chief Oye argued that there was no person from any other party apart from Apga who is fit to lead ndi Anambra because of their internal problems.
He noted that despite the state's lean resources the Governor had been able to transform all sectors of the economy through prudent management of its finances.
Highpoints of the event were the decoration of the governor as the grand patron of UAYA as well as match past by UAYA and Ebele Obiano ladies movement from the twenty one local government areas of the state.
