The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended four suspected drug traffickers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), in Lagoss .

One of the suspects was caught attempting to smuggle narcotics into the country from Brazil, while the other three suspects were arrested on their way to Europe .

The suspects were Anekwe Anthony Ugochukwu, 28, who ingested 81 wraps of cocaine, weighing 1.285 kilogrammes, while Anisiebo Innocent Arinze, 45, ingested 68 wraps of cocaine.

Esimone Christopher Amanchukwu, 33, ingested 82 wraps of cocaine, weighing, while Okiri Angela, 31, was caught with 930 grammes of heroin. She ingested 56 wraps of heroin, concealed 14 wraps on her hair and packed 22 wraps inside sanitary pad in her hand bag.
The suspects were detected with the assistance of scanning machines donated by the United States. Impressed with the arrest and seizures, the Chairman of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, called for more public support for the agency.

While reaffirming the commitment of the government to the anti-narcotic crusade, he vowed that all drug trafficking syndicates would be brought to book.

Giade stressed that the NDLEA would leave no stone unturned in the fight against illicit drugs, and that intense undercover operations were ongoing to dismantle more illegal drug cartels.
