Again, the Ekiti State Police Command has faced another tragedy as unknown gunmen shot policemen dead, an Inspector identified as Inspector Gada has been shot dead and a junior officer known as Sergeant Sunday with fatal injury in Ekiti State.

As learnt, the robbers escaped with a Police van.

The incident took place in Ilupeju, in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti state.

A resident who pleaded anonymity with name withheld said, "I think the policemen were returning from a check point in Itapa and got to another check point between Ilupeju and Oye, right in front of the house of Honourable Bamitale Oguntoyinbo, when the gunmen whose faces were unseen, laid ambush for them, swooped in on them and sprayed bullets on the policemen."
