On coal, the governor said that the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN), otherwise known as Sokoto Cement and owned by the BUA Group, has started using the mineral as a source of energy in operating its plant

BUA will use coal sourced from Sokoto to fuel the 40MW power plant being constructed at the factory

Is CCNN different from Sokoto Cement? Is Sokoto Cement different from Bua? "has started" "will use"

Guy about 40% of the electricity produced in the USA is from coal and it dosent seem that it is going to significantly change in the near future. If youre gonna hate try and be a little more subtle about it

It is all a big cover up for years. Many of this Northern states have discovered all this minerals in commercial quantity long ago. But they want to exhaust the oil and gas resources from the Niger Delta region to a significant level before making their own resources public through the news media.

They know oil days are numbered and they no longer get the big and free oil money from the Niger delta region.

This has gone beyond ethnic rivalry to sheer foolishness and lack of intelligence. Instead of celebrating the discovery, you are still on ethnic bashing. You gain nothing my brothers. I'm not hating... only stating the obvious.
US generates electricity from fossil fuels, not just coal. we have natural gas and petroleum too.

I bet you haven't heard about renewable energy.. the next generation source of power.
Discovering coal yet to be harnessed now is useless when others are trying to phase it out

you can lookup Montreal protocol or read about CFCs and HCFCs and their effects

WE HAVE MANY TONNES OF COAL IN ENUGU THAT NO ONE IS EVEN READY TO MINE .COAL AS AN ENERGY SOURCE HAS BEEN WIDELY UNACCEPTED AND ITS ECONOMIC VALUE DECREASE DAY AFTER DAY.
CELEBRATING COAL MINE IS AS GOOD AS NOTHING.

SINCE NIGER DELTANS DEMANDED FOR RESOURCE CONTROL OR 40%DERIVATIVE THE NORTH HAS COME UP WITH SO MANY SCRIPTED LIES OF FINDING RESOURCE IN THE NORTH JUST TO SHEAR FROM NDDC MONEY.
AND MOST PEOPLE ARE HERE HAILING THESE LIES.

I was waiting for these types of news from the Northern states the moment the FG announced 13% derivation for the solid minerals producing states. I'm sure that the mineral did not emerge overnight. Hypocrisy of the highest order .

You are not concerned about the environment but rather you are obsessed with downplaying positive news coming out from a region you love to hate. We know y'all guys so dont think you can fool us with all this your talk about global warming protocols and shyte. Coal is the single Most used source of electricity in all industrialized nations. Your opposition to it's use in this case is based on hate

Bro, we must learn to walk first before we think of joining others to fly. As it stands presently, Nigeria isn't even crawling. Even in the next 50 years, coal is still going to be relevant for world energy despite the current global campaign against it.

Another very important point is that even with a hundred massive coal plants in Nigeria, the environmental emissions will not be up to 0.01% of the emissions we get daily from the over 15 million generating sets that presently light up the country.
