I just bought a piece of land of about 50 by 60ft, where I intend building a 3 bed all ensuite, visitors toilet, kitchen, dining, and a shop @ de front... So I met an engr who gave me an estimate of about 1.8million naira.

But the way he did all his calculations I'm kind of confused.... Will attach the quotation for any one who can help to see.

Am building a 3 bedroom all ensuite flat also. and my candid advice to you is to do your thing yourself.

I also engaged the service of an engineer initially, but after a thorough delibration with me and myself, i decided to monitor the building myself.

I got to sites on weekends or weekdays when am chanced in the office and everything is going on smoothly. If you can PM me, i will give u some hints on how to do this successfully.

Brick work
1) sharp sand of 20 tones = 1900 unit cost= 38000k
2) stone dust for blocks- 90 tones = 2000 @180,000k
3) cement - 100 bags @ 2250 to site = 225,000k
4) water - = 25,000k
5) fuelling- = 10,000k
6) black oil - = 2000k
7) transport for machine -(2) 10k each =20,000k
rental for 2wks @ 12,500 x 2 = 25,000k
9) labour cost (2) @ = 90,000k
10) supervision & watering for 15days @ 2500 each = 37, 500k
11) machine maintenance =3000k
Total. 661,500:00k

Unit cost will be #145 per blocks
Total blocks will be 3,000 for 9inches and 1,500 for 6inches
Each 9inch will worth #190 - 220 and 6inch will worth #130 each

For foundation and ground floor

1) cement to deck 100bags x 2250 = 225,000k
2)12" iron - 40 quantities @ 1850 unit cost = 74,000k
3) 2*12plank - 60 quantities @ 900 ; = 54,000k
4) filling. = 60,000k
5, nails = 3000k
6) iron Bender & sock away. = 45,000
7) granite 3/4 of 25 tones @2600 unit cost = 65,000k
water. = 20,000k
9) stone dust of 20 tones @2000. = 40,000k
10) digging of soak away. = 60,000k
11) setting and plastering soak away. = 30,000k
12) bricklayer labour cost. = 300,000k
13) mixer machine 1day. = 30,000k
14) triangle and rectangular. = 25,000k
15) bidding wire. = 3000k
16) site engineer and transport = 40,000k
17) transportation and on for seen. = 70,000k
Total. = 1,135,000k

All total = 661,500k + 1,135,000 = #1,796,500,00.
