Outgoing Gambian dictator was fuming with anger after his most trusted aides in the army have started deserting him before the date scheduled for President-Elect, Adama Barrows inauguration. The message was being communicated to him in the form of a briefing. The General said that the army will not provide any form of defence to him in the event of an attack. They were not ready to protect Yahya if he is attacked.
It was unveiled that the camp commander at the Kanalai garrison, Musa Savage was quoted saying that he will not pledge his allegiance and loyalty to Jammeh after his mandate expires on January 19th. He said that he will only pledge his faithfulness to President-Elect Barrow and his incoming administration.
Savage has been speaking openly before before men under his command about plans to switch allegiance to President Barrow come January 19th.
Meanwhile, Gen Saul Badjie is also on the same side with Gen Savage. He made it clear to Yahya Jammeh that he should step down peaceful and allow a safe transfer of power. Badjie spoke during a security briefing at the State House on Thursday.
As a result of the speech Yahya sprang up and he and Badjie had a series of push and pull. The State House was tensed up as the military tried to intervene, Badjie was still saying that the battalions won't put up a fight for him in the event of an invasion, which only infuriated Jammeh the more.
An alert was even issued to the respective military battalions to fortify the security within their barracks.
Moreover, Yahya Jammeh has lost weight overtime and now dresses in military uniform while in the State House.
