Atleast 60 people were confirmed dead in a crisis which rocked a prison in Brazil.

A 17 hours chaos which erupted in Anísio Jobim Prison Complex in the city of Manaus, Brazil on Sunday.

According to report the uprising was was between two criminal organizations in the prison.

The Public Safety Secretary Sergio Fontes, revealed that guards and 74 prisoners were taken hostage. Six bodies were decapitated and several bodies thrown over the prison wall.

The authorities also revealed that they are yet to ascertain the number of prisoners that escaped.
