have heard of such. there is no way a customer would buy a car and not test drive it here in nigeria but please next time make sure that u make sure the person has made at least 75 percent part payment and u also have someone who would accompany the person so that there would be no tampering with the car.

My gut feeling tells me that it is a set up. my instinct tells me whoever was in the car wit hthe alleged armed robber probably planned the whole story. I might be wrong but,

check the berger area also

No one in his / her right senses would even make a 25% payment on a car they may, or may not buy after test driving. Even if they did pay 75% "for a test drive", if the tester intends to rob the seller, he'll still do so, and take back his / her money.
Re: Nairalander, Please Help, This Vehicle Was Stolen While Test Driving by klo: 8:31pm On Nov 28, 2009
good talk. only God can deliver from the robbers, but then we can take precautions ourselves, like in cotonou you cant test drive a car outside the park agreed its even within the port premises. so car sellers need to take caution too.

Good People,
Frankly its a surprise we dont see more of this type of Thing.
A lot of us dont realise the viewership Nairaland Autos get!
Let me get into the mind of the Thief here-
1) Its premeditated. I did not go out hoping to get Lucky. I made calls, I inspected previously.
2) I already knew i would have only 1 escort. i took care not to go with anyone who could be held down while i made my escape.
3) I knew enough to know the Particular escort would be persuaded by the Gun-Believe it or not, it wont always work
4) Do I need the Papers? if they were in the Car,it would be the Height of Sloppiness

What can we do?
Nothing really. Just Pray. God still answers with Miracles.
Friendl did not deserve this. But he'll learn. As will all of us.
Its Well.

I found this website from Nigerian police force, I think you can find if your stolen car has been recovered on it, maybe MAYBE it might help. Good luck with finding your car.

NA WAO!A colleague also warned me about this recently.he told me that these people are everywhere now.car dealers, please also ensure that u close early enough and dont display till it gets dark no matter what.some of them can even disguise like serious buyer and try to lure u to wait till it gets dark before embarking on their mission.so all, beware.also heard that another tactics they use now is to copy car chasis number and then they go and register the vehicle in their name, after which they now launch a complain to the police that their car is missing.i beleive they work in hand with some illegal police officers.imagine!so please beware.take proper precaution.dont get carried away by the excitement that u have seen a serious buyer.
friendl,sorry bro.hope u find the car soon.
