Martha Amakye, a 33-year-old outsourced staff of Stanbic bank, has been declared wanted by the Ghana Police in connection to a series of complaints from customers of the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic bank.
Martha Amakye, an outsourced staff from Noswall Management Service, a recruitment agency, is said to have fled when Stanbic bank’s Financial Crime Control Unit found out that she was involved in fraudulent transactions.
According to reports Miss Amakye, a personal solution consultant at the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic Bank, collected money from customers on the pretext of investing the money in fixed deposits.
Miss Amakye allegedly contacted customers of the bank – without the bank’s permission – and proceeded to entice them to invest in her nefarious scheme.
Some customers allegedly paid her outside the bank, while some actually came into the bank and made payments inside the banking hall. According to reports, after payment, Miss Amakye is said to have issued customers with fake bank deposit slips.
Miss Amakye, at one point, allegedly paid some initial investors what she said were interests for their investment. She proceeded to tell them that the principle would be reinvested into the scheme.
With news of a lucrative investment deal at the Tema Community One branch spreading, more people sought to subscribe to the scheme. Miss Amakye’s picture and details have been posted on Stanbic Bank’s social media page asking members of the public to come forward should they have any information on her.
Customers have also been cautioned never to make payments to anyone other than a teller and demand receipts or stamped payment slips for all payments made.
