Please Nairalanders, I have 4 Month left for my rent to expire and my Landlord issued me a Quit Notice with 4month notice which means the notice will take effect immediately my rent expired. Pls what is the legal way of dealing with this case.

It depends on how u pay yr rent... If yr payment is per year base then u shud be entitled to 6 months notice, if it's 6 months base then he ll just give u 4months notice.

then you are legally entitled to a 6months quit notice and not 4 months...

ahhh. people re smh..when u collect ur receipt how many months does it carry when u pay.sinc u said u pay him twice.when does he issue u d receipt is it after the second payment making it full? or he issues base on that twice as u pay?

He issued receipt based on the months I paid. so I get receipt twice a year. But my first and Second year receipt was paid once with a single receipt. He do collect money from other tenants base on his need by borrowing from them and they deduct it from the rent but i told him I dont do that so anytime he call to borrow money from me I dont give until my rent expire and I pay him immediately or a week to 2 weeks after expiatory
