I have read the law that made Pastor Adeboye announce this morning that he was handing over the running of the Nigerian Wing of the RCCG to somebody else. The following are just snapshots of the complicated law.
· The Law is called the National Code of Corporate Governance.
· The law was first passed in 2008 by PDP’s President Umoru Musa Y’aradua.
· The Law applies to all faith, not just the CHURCH.
· Prominent pastors tried to prevail on Goodluck Jonathan to repeal the law when he became President.
· GEJ explained that no president has that power to undo what the congress has done.
· Nigerian lawmakers insisted the law is good for Nigeria. They refused to undo.
· Prominent Pastors including Pastor Adeboye, Oritsejafor and Bishop Oyedepo joined CAN challenging the law in court.
· Muhammadu Buhari’s Attorney General sided with CAN and the pastors.
· They recently lost the case.
· The law forces Pastors to pick between paying taxes including their tithes and offering or
· Pastor can opt out but the leader will only stay in office for twenty years or when he/she turns 70 years old.
· He also cannot pass the leadership torch on to his loved ones when the time comes.
· If he chooses to pay taxes, the government will look at his books and enforce payment based on tithes and offering and other incomes.
· If he settles with the last option, he will be in power until Jesus returns and will hand over the church to anyone including his wife, wife, driver, cook, or you reading this.
· The law is very complicated but this is the best reading of it from me at this time.

Very Well then, complicated but they will still find loopholes to circumvent it.

Good law.
Any money making machinery must pay tax, whether it was given freely or not, as far as a give and take action has taken place between two people or more in an institutionalised setting.
