There appears to be division among the staff of the Office of Auditor-General of the Federation, following the appointment of Anthony Mkpe Ayine by President Muhammadu Buhari to occupy the office.

Buhari has already forwarded the name of Ayine to the Senate for confirmation after his excellent performance in an interview for the job and his record when he was the Auditor-General of Local Government in Cross River State.

It was alleged that a group within the Office of the AuGFoperating under the name “Coalition of members of Staff and Organised Labour of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation”, had petitioned the Senate opposing the confirmation of Ayine because he was not a staff of the office.

But another set of staff in the AuGF, “Concerned Integrity Group”, commended President Buhari for appointing Ayine for the position, describing him as a man of integrity that will block all financial loopholes in the system.

Members of the latter group alleged that “those opposed to the confirmation of Ayine are members of a small group within the system who had lobbied for one of their own to emerge with ulterior motives.”

“But because Ayine is a no-nonsense man, they are not comfortable with his nomination because he will spoil the market for them,” one of the members of Concerned Integrity group stated.
Sunday Vanguard gathered that Ayine had carried out some cleansing at the Cross River State Local Government Pension Board where he discovered about N8 million fraud in the system and he immediately petitioned the state House of Assembly.

He also sent the petition, dated, September 8, 2015 to Governor Ben Ayade.
Ayine was quoted to have alleged that the pension board manipulated the payment of pension and gratuity to the beneficiary of a dead official who served for 32 years in the Office of the Auditor-General.

Ayine’s appointment and request for confirmation was contained in a letter by the President to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Buhari noted in the letter read by Saraki to his colleagues that Section 86(1) of 1999 Constitution (as amended) states that the Auditor-General for the Federation shall be appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Federal Civil Service Commission subject to confirmation by the Senate.

The so called “Coalition of members of Staff and Organised Labour of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation” does not represent the interest and views of majority of the staff. They are only being sponsored by a certain director who lost out to Anthony Ayine during the interview. The coalition is not known to the office.

Ayine emerged through a merit based system, we should support him to succeed instead of all this unnecessary pull him down syndrome. If the senate refuse to confirm Ayine as a result of all the unnecessary and baseless petitions, no Southerner should complain if the president replaces him with a northerner.

Tht is how Bubu & his Afonja cronnies brought in kemi Adeosun we ended up in recession.
Why is bubu scared of bringing in ppl with vast knowledge in a career & has handled bigger project with longer track records than appointing certain ppl just to please certain group.
Worst president ever tht Nigeria has witnessed since creation both as military & now as civilian

You people should stop commenting on issues you are ignorant of simply because you hate the president. Federal civil service commission duely advertised the position for all interested and qualified professionals to apply. Written and oral interviews were conducted and the nominee came first. The president only accepted and nominated Ayine based on the recommendation of fcsc. So, what is wrong with the president appointing the candidate that emerged through a merit based process? Is merit based appointment not what we have been clamouring for all along?

Is tht how the written exam & oral interview was conducted for other govt agencies of the govt thts has directors tht should man the affairs & tht has been in the system for yrs with the required knowledge of the cumbersome agency over the yrs to step after their superior retires?
Or dont u see the political undertone associated with such appointment & which has been a common trend with this present regime.
Oh!,so the presidency now remembers there is fcsc now coz this agency is required to be filled up as part of the pre-requisite for his $20b loan to sail thru both @ the NASS & @ the IMF.
pls when we see the truth lets speak & call a spade a spade than being political in every little thing we see.

Oga keep quiet and stop making noise if you have nothing sensible to add. Comparing running a bank with auditing shows your absence of any financial understanding.

Children of hate that will continue cutting their noses to spite their irredeemably bitter faces......I am sure if he was a full blooded Igbo man from Anambra you would support him with your last breath. I just hope the other tribes you forced into your Biafra are watching you in full 3D.
