tried locating it on the gear housing but i dont think i did


speedometer not functioning properly erratic shifting of gear and sometimes not changing

Scan the abs module for wheel speed sensor issue and if there is ,then take care of the abs issue and the p0500 will be resolved .For most toyota ,DTC i pointing to vehicle speed sensor is actually referring to the abs wheel speed sensor and it is the same wheel speed is the source of speedometer signal .

I doubt if it is so on the camry 2003. I know of the sienna 1999

@ op if yours has got a vechicle speed sensor mounted directly on the gearbox. Most likely rats have eaten up the wire. Also check wheel speed sensor and finally abs module. Your ride might have the speed signl picked directly from the abs module

It is like that on the PZEV model of Camry which is why I said he should scan the abs modules first to confirm .

Very possible

My car is also doing the same right now.. The erratic shifting process is annoying. It is only p0500 that is the error code.

It is Toyota Camry 2003.

honmusa I see you have an office at gbagada.. Which is closer to me.

When I clear the error code, once I put the gear on D, the error code appears.
