The news came as shock to many RCCG members as well as the Nigerian general public. Pastor Adeboye who had headed the church since 1981 named Pastor Joshua Obayemi as his successor on Saturday at the Annual Minister’s Thanksgiving service in Ogun state. Although Pastor Obayemi is the new GO of the RCCG Nigeria, Pastor Adeboye remains the GO of RCCG worldwide. The church has branches in about 190 countries in the world.
