Gionee having already launched the N1.2 million M2017 flagship device has launched a new, more "pocket friendly" smartphone device which packs some impressive specs.

Gionee Steel 2 is designed as a mid-range smartphone but its specs are quite impressive, the device is a 5-inch display smartphone powered by a MediaTek chipset and runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow.

The highlight specs of the Gionee Steel 2 includes its 4G LTE support, 3GB RAM, a fingerprint security scanner and a cool 4000mAh battery.

Gionee could have done better with the camera though but a 8MP back camera and a 5MP selfie snapper is not that bad considering we are talking of a mid-range device.

And of course, other features compensates for the camera on offer.

The Gionee Steel is available at a retail price of $190 (about N84,000)
