The National Coordinator of the Police Equipment Foundation (PEF), Kenny Martins and three other associates were freed yesterday by an Abuja High Court on charges of criminal fraud brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court said the EFCC failed to establish a criminal case of fraud against Mr. Martins and three others, in the handling of the PEF's fund. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/5486194-147/story.csp Case closed. wonder why police can't even present tangible evidence to get a conviction |

We are talking about of N7.740billion of funds that is meant for police projects. You will not blame the judge that acquitted the guy.The country is not serious on corruption. The guys that tended the petition do not have address,no tangible evidence and as such cannot come out in the open for fear of their lives. At the end of the day,N7b gone and we still await another fraud. We never prove that government officials are stealing the funds meant for development in the law courts but the state of the nation suggest otherwise. We are immune to suffering.sorry for Nigerians. |

EFCC to Appeal Court Judgment on Kenny Martins From Yemi Akinsuyi in Abuja, 11.24.2009 Add To Favorites Print This Article Post Comment The embattled Cordinator of Police Equipment Foundation (PEF), Chief Ken ny martins has descibed court judgment, where he and three others were discharged and acquaited, as his vindication from all allegations levelled against him by just as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has threatened to appeal the judgment. Martins, who was on Monday discharged and acquitted by a court in Abuja over allegations of misappropriation of Police fund, said the law will always stand by the innocents. EFCC, in a statment signed by its spokesman, Mr. Femi Babafemi, described as unfortunate and shocking the decision of an Abuja High Court, presided over by Justice Abubakar Talba to discharge Kenny Martins and three others on the criminal case filed against them by the anti-graft agency. The EFCC had filed a nine count charge bordering on conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of PEF funds to the tune of N7.47 billion against Martins, Ibrahim Dumuje, Yero Gella and Nigerstalg Ltd. According to a statement by the Commission on Tuesday, “the no case ruling by the court came to us as a shock in view of the over whelming evidence provided by the prosecution and the testimonies of six witnesses called to prove the allegations against the accused” “In view of the Commission’s disappointment with this ruling and our belief that we can still prove our case against the accused before a higher court, the Chairman of the EFCC has upon being briefed on the judgment directed that an appeal be filed immediately at the appellate court. “This more so as we believe that the accused have a case to answer on the allegations leveled against them” |
