THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO CHURCHES.

Digital media is changing the way we communicate and how we communicate. Today, churches without a digital presence are losing their relevance. Digital media is a powerful tool that will open doors and opportunities to engage with people who rarely, if ever, will step foot in a church building. Below, we would outline the 10 importance ofsocial media to churches and how they can leverage it to reach more people globally with the goal of disemminating the Good News of the Gospel.
Before we dive in, let's know what social media means first.
What is social media?
Social media are simply websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. In other words, social media is simply mediums we use to communicate with people far and near, disseminate and get information.
Below are the importance of Social Media to African Churches.
1. Global Spread of the Gospel - With social media, the Gospel woud reach the far ends of the earth because of billions of people that uses the internet and social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This 3 social networks has an estimated active users of about 2.5 billion which means, the word of God would reach half the people of the earth.
2. Wider Audience - The church can reach not only members, but other christians around the world to inform them about ongoing activities, programmes or events that are going on in the church and keep in the loop
3. Social Media is also a great platform to communicate internally with members, new converts etc to answer questions and pray for them.
4. Drive Traffic to your website - Social media helps drive a lot of traffic from members or followers of your ministry or church to your website. Take for instance; Pastor Femi's church has a Facebook page with more than 5,000 followers, think of how many people would move on to his church's website whenever he posts an update on his Facebook page that he has uploaded a vlog of prayers that can be streamed online. You can drive incredible traffic by having social media handles on your website where people can also visit your social media accouns.
5. And finally, it can help you touch and impact the lives of millions of people all over the world which is very important.
ChurchPlus helps you reach out to more and more people all over the world with the message of our Lord, Jesus by using digital tools - websites, online giving, social media integration and a ChurchPlus SaaS software to monitor and keep track of church data. Let's help spread God's Word together.
