Nigerian troops will contribute greatly to the ECOWAS Force to enforce law on President Yahaya Jameh of Gambia who has been given an ultimatum by ECOWAS leaders to step down on 19th January, 2017 or be removed by force.

It was said that a Nigerian War ship, THE NNS UNITY is currently sailing off the coast of Ghana

President Jammeh on the other hand has declared a state of emergency 24 hours to the end of his tenure.

The Federal Government of Nigeria is to send Nigerian troops to join ECOWAS troops in Senegal ahead of the step down date given to president Jammeh.
