His big moment is followed by a rendition of America the Beautiful. 4:51pm Top Senate Democrat speaks A slightly awkward part of the ceremonies as Chuck Schumer, the top Senate Democrat, is speaking about American values. He and Mr Trump have sparred since the election, and the New York senator has said he will fight Mr Trump's agenda "tooth and nail". A mob of violent protesters, many with their faces covered in bandanas and some even wearing gasmasks swept through, breaking windows at a Starbucks and McDonalds and spray painting anarchist symbols. There are frightened-looking Trump supporters trying to make their way to the national mall, and peaceful protesters looking distraught at the destruction.
