Four Things You Need To Do To Avoid The Mistakes You Made Last Year by successcard: 10:55pm On Jan 20, 2017
" A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new. - Albert Einstein "

Reading through some old posts from a friend's timeline, one could easily tell that he couldn't wait for 2016 to pass.. From all indications, last year was a very terrible year for him. His expressions said it all.

When 2017 finally arrived, his timeline got filled with posts that expressed joy and a sense of relief: "At long last, 2016 is finally behind me," he said in a Facebook post.

He wasn't the only one who got clouded in the euphoria that accompanied the year; everyone else seemed to be carried away by the tradition of making new resolutions. What could possibly have gone wrong last year?

2016 may be past and gone, but life continues from where it left off. Nothing will ever change if you keep applying the same principles and methods you used last year. You’ve got to change direction!

As a general rule, people will always express dissatisfaction at the end of each year. No doubt about that. For you not to be part of this group, like my friend, you need to consider a few or perhaps all of the recommendations stated below:

Go back to the drawing board.
"He who watches from behind knows how crooked a thing looks," the popular African proverb says. At this point in time, when the year is still young, the best thing to do is reflect on your past experiences. Learn from your previous mistakes! It’s the quickest way to move forward.

Devise new strategies.
To achieve something new, one must fortify his old ways of doing things, or better still, come up with an entirely new thing altogether. The next thing to do after learning from your past mistakes is to devise new means of attaining your goals and targets. To do this however, you need to dig deeper into your skull and bring out the best of ideas hidden in the treasure chest of your mind, and then sail out in that new direction.

Seek counsel.

Two heads are always better than one. That’s true to an extent; but it matters a great deal who you approach for counsel. Not everyone is qualified to give you an advice. That’s a fact! Some people may end up telling you things that will rather deter your hopes completely; others might turn you into the subject of mockery. To avoid these circumstances, you need to turn to those who inspire you the most; those individuals who always listen to the smallest things you tell them.

This isn't the time to cry or wallow around in self-pity, it's the time to think deeply and bring out the best of ideas from the treasure chest of your mind and sail out in a totally new direction.

Act immediately.

Nothing will ever change without a corresponding action. If you sit around comfortably and idle, expecting something miraculous to happen, you’ll be heading for the biggest surprise of your life. December may seem too far, but it’s just 365 days away. With the clock ticking so fast, you need to make a move before time catches you unaware. It wouldn't be an easy journey, but it wouldn't be difficult either.

When you follow these few steps religiously, there is a greater chance that you may be able to turn things around. It wouldn't be easy, but there is nothing stopping you from trying.

Looking forward to hearing your story at the end of December.
