Democracy as we all know is a system or a form of government based on the sovereignty of the people, in which citizens have equal say in the decisions that affect their lives. Having the above in mind, Nigeria began it's second sojourn into democracy in May 1999. We are a few months from clocking 18years in this second sojourn of ours, longer than the first by far. But are we truly under the rule of democracy? That's the big question and pardon me to say that the answer to this question is a big NO.

Yes we have had smooth transitions of power amongst different governments led by different individuals unlike some of our African brothers like Libya, Egypt, Cameroon and most recently, The Gambia. But with these governments there have been a persistent issue with the killing of innocent citizens as one of our national problems.

Having in view of what the constitution binding us together says, how else can the masses express their feelings if not through peaceful protests as we have seen in other countries, most recently the U.S.A.

A rally or playcards carrying demonstrations has become a form of expression of views in issues affecting government and the governed in this our sovereign state. We ought to also note that in present day Nigeria, police permit have outlived its usefulness.

We have been witnesses either by seeing, hearing or reading of massive killing of innocent citizens of this country almost on a daily basis; whether this unfortunate victims are protesting, resting or even playing etc is a case for another day.

We remember the professional footballer Joseph Izu of blessed memory killed on account of being a criminal. We remember the killings of IPOB members countless number of times. We also remember the incessant killings of the Shiite religious groups too.

The gravest of all was the latest bombing of the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Rann, Borno state. For Christ sake, the IDP camps are operated by our men in uniform, meaning they know every location of these various camps in Nigeria, yet they wickedly dropped a bomb on innocent people claiming it was a mistake because they got information of boko haram activities in the area.
Its shows incompetency on their part.

We remember the wrong killings of citizens over little arguments by our uniform men and many more we have individually witnessed, often under the guise of accidental discharge.

Fellow Nigerians, it is time we curbed this menace and molestation of the masses, we have a say in how we are governed. We are not some chemical experiments, we are humans,we are citizens,we are Nigerians.!!!

Let's rise up and say NO to these abuse of arms by our uniform men under the watch of our so called democratic government...for the power of democracy lies in the unity of its citizens...

In The New Nigeria Vanguard we believe in the sanctity of life and no man in uniform should gun down another without the backing of the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
#tomorrow's leaders today!

Long Live NNV!!

Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

It is disgraceful and equally shameful that a country like Nigeria which claims to be the Giant Africa but is still a country where the Army and Police still kill unarmed people just for protesting. Whst makes the Nigerian security agencies any better than Boko Haram?

A good measure of a country that will develop is its human rights record. That of Nigeria is so bad that it is shocking. A country were an amed forces is not yet diciplined enough to respect the sanctity of human life. Shocking!

We have seen the pains and cries of helpless Nigerians on this, hence the need to join the fight against such societal malady, by joining the New Nigeria Vanguard for a re-branded military force.
