Rant: Nairaland Writers Are Lazy? by Divepen1(m): 2:17pm On Jan 30, 2017 |
One very funny thing about being a writer :everybody wants to be one too. Many want to tell the stories we tell. A good example is Politicalthug who believes writers are lazy because they don't update on time. Let me tell you how I survive writing my storie. Peju Amadi (Repogirl) and Humbledbygrace have continually told me how much they want to update as regularly as I. But the truth is that any day they update, their works always come out better than mine. Many people use laptop to write and update per time, but I use my phone. Writing with laptop expands your mind(for me). Writing with Wps on an andriod device can be slow, but I manage to write close to 2000 words per day. Bibijay123 can bear me witness, editting with WPS can be really frustrating. And the funniest part is that after writing and the first editting you will notice you've spent close to 4 hours. Yet, there would still be errors which can only be seen by a laptop or after reading it another day. I wrote the Unknown shadows, Her Beauty Calls, Comfortless Arms, Die oh Baby die(aka Life Under The Table) etc with phones. So you see the problem those with Android face. What about those that type directly with smaller phones? It takes instinct. They have the story playing on their mind but to type it is not easy. What about that use Itel, who post just because they want to be better. Writers on this forum are really trying their best. Any reader who wants to criticise should remember their pain. Point out errors and lapses but don't ask them how come they never improved( especially when they say they've been studying) like someone asked Audreytimms one of those days. Funny enough many of you don't even drop comments. You don't give them money. You don't comment on the blogs of those that have it. Even to buy their books na wahala. Larrysun writes into paper before typing and used to type with a blackberry phone. Ask yourself why good writers are not encouraged to write on. People like my ogaz Royver, Kayemjay, Frank316, Glowingscenes, Ekaromail, Sammyhoe, D9ty7. They squeeze their time to drop updates. I read most of politicalthug's posts and I saw how he kept calling stories Useless and I wonder if he had conjured any story since his inception. I ought to keep quiet but it's high time we shut some people up. Their works have been plagiarised times without number and they kept writing but your own poem was plagiarised once and you stopped writing. So, learn how to accord respect whom it is due. 12 Likes 7 Shares |

It just totally baseless and outright stupidity to call a writer useless or lazy when as a matter of fact you have done nothing to improve that said writer. we write especially on nairaland, not because we expect a kind of reward but just to keep the fun going and a good for nothing fellow would say nairaland writers are useless and lazy. If you must critisize, learn to do so constructively and you'll be appreciated for your wisdom. Some of us even write here anonymously knowing fully well that we would never be known. Most of us write from offices, from mobile phones in the face of constant distractions from people around us, mobile notifications, etc all in a bid to keep the updates coming. I hope to come back to writing on nairaland and by God any one that drops a stupid, classless insult would get the full wrath of my creativity. Thank You for Divepen for raising this issue. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

Interesting. I Was Reading Tormented By Safarigirl In The Year 2015. I Got Frustrated And Tired When The Update Was Not Forthcoming. I Had To Quit Reading The Damn Story When She Complained That Her Tecno Phone Was Having One Fault Or The Other. I Have Forgotten What The Story Was All About When I Saw It This Morning In The Year 2017. Now I Had To Re-read The Whole Story To Know How It All Started. You See? We The Readers Are Not Fools For Reading Your Stories. We Are Very Important To You And You Have To Treat Us Well By Having The Whole Story On Paper Before Coming Online To Start It. We Deserve Frequent Updates Please. When I Used To Write, I Update 5 Times Daily. I Dnt Disappoint At All. 2 Likes |

I write because I love what I write about. Poetry is something I love and it's different, like way different from prose and drama. So I frankly don't care what a mind that isn't trained poetically thinks about my poems. It is always best to appreciate yourself first, and if you must put your work out for people to read and criticise, make sure they're the ones who know what literature is about, not the usual mop up posters who shout everyday for updates. 3 Likes 3 Shares |

Divepen1, you don't owe explanation to anyone. If he thinks someone's work is useless, he should write and entertain himself. Me I write for my own entertainment,if you say my work is useless to you, too bad because me I am enjoying myself. 4 Likes |

Well, I've learned to read terrible comments made by people who may not know what they are saying, smile at their ignorance, and move on. I have nothing to prove to anyone. I just do my thing. Everyone is entitled to his opinion, no matter how preposterous. I should have insulted the guy, but he's not my friend. I insult only my friends. 4 Likes 1 Share |
