Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Dino Melaye, has raised the alarm over the contract sum for the construction of the official residences of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, describing the sums as inflated.

The senator disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja.

According to Melaye, the gatehouse alone of Osinbajo’s three-bedroom apartment will cost N250m.

He said the senate could call for a review.

This money is enough to built a mini estate of 1bedroom flat for many homeless civil servant. why won't it be 250m when it's certain that one Abiko will be the gateman.

I have one challenge with our senators though we are all against corruption. You can not just made a wide allegations without going into detail. Some house can be build for N5m while some is as high as N10b or even N50b it all depend on the nature of building. He said they want to use N250M to build security gate which is too high but there is a need to see specifications because some security gadget is as high as same N250M. There is different between extravagant spending and corruption. The price of 2017 highlander jeep is not same with 2010 model.

Pls, what we are saying is that #250mil is too much for a security gate. Stop painting corruption.

I am not saying the money is not too high but we need specification to be fair in our judgment. It is just proper to put some security gadget in such a place include anti-missile.
