Joost Ven der Westhuzen a member of the South African rugby team that triumph at the 1995 rugby world cup is dead. Joost died on Monday after struggling with motor neurone disease, his charitable foundation revealed.




He is one of the best scrumhalves the rugby world has ever seen, he represented the SA team between 1993-2003 accumulating 89 tests. He also captained the team to a bronze medal during the 1999 world.

Joost was diagnosed with the motor neurone disease back in 2011, he was told that he had only 2 more years to live. He then channeled his energy into his J9 foundation whose aim to help others who are suffering from the same disease cope with life.

His death is a great loss to South Africans and the world at large, Joost reportedly passed away in his home were he was surrounded by his love ones.
