Gov Willie Obiano has said that the roads he's doing now were productive economic roads, that would help develop and transform standard of life in the rural areas.
He acknowledged his administration aims to bring economic prosperity to the hinterlands by ensuring easy evacuation of agricultural produce they have.
The Governor spoke when he inspected ongoing construction work on the 16 kilometer Isuaniocha-Urum-Achalla road being executed by his administration.

It was observed that a 10.1 kilometer stretch on the road have been asphalted, while clearing and removal of stumps was ongoing on the remaining 5.9 kilometers.

Gov Obiano, after the inspection expressed satisfaction with what he saw on ground and said more money would be released later this month for work to continue on the site.

He said having identified poor road infrastructure as a major challenge facing most Agrarian communities, his administration has decided to embark on construction of productive roads not only to boost the economy of the rural communities but also to contribute towards the growth of the State IGR.

The Chairman of the Contracting Firm handling the project, Chief Leo Okoye said they target to start piling work on the Ezigboekwu River, Achalla this month while work on bridge proper will start by the coming of the rains to connect the already asphalted area with the rest of the road and assured that they are committed to handing over the project in the next six months.

Governor Obiano also inspected construction work on the 2kilometer Uke-Nnobi -Nkpor Junction Road where he explained that although it is short, the road when completed, will reduce traffic at the Nnobi and Nkpor junctions by creating alternative route for motorists, saying he was impressed with the extent of work covered already.

The Contractor handling the project, Mr Nassir Norsh who said they commenced the project last year, assured that they have the men and machineries to deliver the Project in one month.

In their separate remarks, the Member representing Idemili North in the State Assembly, Mr Francis Nmegbuanaeze and the President General, Ogidi Union, Mr Jideofor Onubogu commended the quality of work done on the road and said it is because of all he is doing for the people of Idemmili that her people are strongly behind his second term bid.

Also speaking, the Traditional Ruler of Uke, Igwe Charles Agballa and the Vicar, St Luke's Parish Uke, Rev Gabriel Ekekwe said the peace which Gov Obiano entrenched in Uke by recognizing its traditional leadership has opened the door to many positive advancements in the community and thanked him for keeping to his promise to construct the road.
