A Tanzanian man has been arrested for allegedly sealing off his sister in a septic tank (soakaway pit) for 2 years.

The crime occurred inside a small town in the African nation of Tanzania. There, a 25 year old woman was rescued from a septic tank after allegedly being held there for 2 years by her brother.

The alleged brother – 32 year old Nathan Machoma – was reportedly following instructions from a witch doctor who told him to put his sister in the tank – and he would become rich.



He had reported his sister missing to the police, but his maid became suspicious about his regular visits to the tank, and checked what was in it when he was at work.

Neemah Machoma was severely malnourished and emotionally disturbed, but is recovering from the ordeal. Nathan Machoma was arrested.
