Below are five (5) Interesting facts you should know about the dreaded HIV and AIDS disease:

1. Do you know that AIDS can take as much as ten years before it starts to manifest? It means a person infected with HIV may look and even feel healthy for that much years, during this period he/she can still transmit the virus to someone else. New discovery medicines can help a person stay healthier for even longer periods of time, however, the person will remain infected with HIV.

2. HIV can also be transmitted when the skin is cut or pierced using an unsterilized needle, razorblade, knife, syringe or any other tool. It means those who inject themselves with drugs or have s€x with drug users are at high risk of becoming infected with HIV.

3. Those who have S€xually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are at greater risk of being infected with HIV. People with STIs should are advised to seek prompt and immediate treatment and avoid s€xual intercourse or practice safer s€x (non-penetrative s€x or s€x using a condom). They are also advised to inform their partners.

4. A HIV positive person can have HIV-free children, this is made possible with advances in medicine making it possible for an HIV positive parent to have a normal and uninfected child. The mother to be only need take the appropriate medication and advice from a qualified consultant doctor during her pregnancy. These medications help in preventing the crossing over of the virus from mother to baby. It means with proper care, an HIV positive person can have a perfectly healthy baby.

5. People with HIV can still have s€x. Most people believe that once infected with HIV / AIDS they will never have s€x again. A person can have s€x but with protection. Since the places that the virus can easily spread is trough the va-gi-na and a-nus, using a quality condom is the best option.

Remember: Say NO  to stigmatization against people living with HIV / AIDS.

No.1 is possible because the HIV virus has the ability to adaptively remain in a "latent" state/phase for too long and can go undetected By HIV vaccines and HIV therapy combination "cocktails" still being tried out in labs such as Cold Springs harbor and even Karolinska...

Another is that Anti retrovirals (ARVs) taken by HIV positive patients acts to keep the Virus inactive but fact is the ARVs do not reach all of the HIV population in the body as The HIV virus itself is a "Smart" virus and can also conceal itself and go undetected by medical tech for Years until it manifests.

Besides not all ARVs have the same effect.

P.S: I believe a true cure have been found but is being suppressed and kept "classified" OR not enough efforts are being made to bring the HIV research adventure to its final destination... "A Cure".... because the big pharma companies and political juggernauts of the western world are gaining billions of dollars from the HIV ARVs and Vaccines business.

They don't want the Barry Marshall effect of ulcer to repeat itself.

When Dr Barry (alongside His pathology friend) found Ulcer's cure, that alone ended the business of Ulcer drugs which brought in billions of dollars as patients with ulcer back then had to take the drugs throughout their lifetime.... ulcer was formerly seen as a chronic disease/illness. smiley

nice one OP
