This senator has been one of the most vocal defender of his people in southern Kaduna.Andrew Yakubu was granted Bail by the courts and not the senator. All attempts by El-rufai to and his media aides to ridicule him is dead on arrival
Thank you sir.
Most Nigerians don't know where to direct their anger. The man needed a surety, the senator provided one as a friend. Is there any problem with that? The senator did not grant him bail.
If the senator is perceived to be corrupt, those making noise here should blow their whistle, and stop saying things that are non existent.
Nigerians and holier than thou attitude. Direct your anger towards the direction of the courts

If you stole today, you won't get ONE person to stand as surety for you? If you did, would that mean that person endorsed/endorses your act?

I don't get what you guys are trying to imply on this thread. When did standing as surety for a criminal start suggesting that one was/is his accomplice?

Attempts to ridicule who, wetin concern El Rufai with a thief that has already admitted owning a money that he can't possibly earn all his working life? Don't just start defending the indefensible.
So what is wrong with the bail bond? Is Yakubu not entitled to bail? There is nothing El-rufai can do to stop his re-election

Someone just has to be there for him. Someone had to sign the bail document.

And it's not news that 99% of our lawmakers are ultra corrupt.

If you agree with your Leader even when he's wrong, you are corrupt.

If the courts saw no reasons for granting Yakubu bail, it Will not have done so.What has the senator got to do with the money found in his house? There is nothing wrong in standing surety for aa friend. If El-rufai wants to use this to score political points it is dead on arrival. Southern Kaduna will vote for him over and over again and there is nothing he can do about it

If Andrew Yakubu had clicked the link on my signature and used part of his legitimate salary as the GMD of NNPC to buy some marketing units he would not have needed to steal $9.8 million and £74,000 because he would have been earning US Dollars everyday. He would not also have needed this sleeping senator to stand surety for him to be granted bail because he would not have been arrested.

All civil servants, politicians and private sector workers in Nigeria, instead of stealing money use part of your legitimate salary to buy marketing units and you would be earning US Dollars everyday. Please stop stealing. Stealing is largely responsible for the depreciation of the naira.

Last week, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) busted the Kaduna residence of a former managing director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Andrew Yakubu.

It was gathered that the raid on Yakubu's residence was due to a information given to the commission by a whistle-blower.

Following the raid, $9.8 million and 74,000 British pounds were recovered by the EFCC.

Although the former managing director claimed that the money was presented to him as gift by an associate, a Federal High Court sitting in Kano has ordered that the monies be forfeited to the federal government.

Also, few days after the money was recovered by the EFCC, Yakubu was arrested and later granted administrative bail by the commission.

The bail condition given by the EFCC included the provision of a surety, Daily Nigerian reports.

The online news media also said a serving senator stood as surety for the former NNPC's managing director.

Sources said the anti-graft agency had planned to detain Yakubu pending its conclusion on investigations against him.

The source, however, the senator representing Kaduna South senatorial district (Peoples Democratic Party) Danjuma Laah, 56, filled the bail document for the release of Yakubu.

He also said Laah, popularly known as 'the sleeping senator' is a regular visitor to Yakubu's Unguwan Wakili residence in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The source also said a retired military army general is among many others trooping the EFCC headquarters to facilitate Yakubu's release.

What kind of silly journalism is this where you pour your personal opinion, bias and venoms in conveying a supposedly national news? btw since when did signing bail bond become a crime or form of indictment? has he being convicted? court ruled on TEMPORARY forfeiture pending investigation conclusion NEVER the lie you portrayed there...

Andrew Yakubu is an innocent man. Last time I checked no court has convicted him. There is nothing wrong is standing as a surety for his bail. Securing bail is to enable him prepare his defence and to stand trial. There is nothing wrong for the senator representing his contituency to stand as a surety. There is no shame in it. It is completely legal.

The other day an army general was exposed for owning houses in Dubai and certain SGF was exposed for his sheddy deals. Why single out only Andrew Yakubu?

I shake my head for the youth of this country, imagine what u v just said, that he has not even beeb convicted yet.

I remember it was people like you that was spilling sentimental statement when Sanusi and Soludo was alarming Nigerians on how about $20 billion was diverted, now you have seen the phsical cash as part of the diversion and u are still waiting to hear from him.

Do u know that that money if set aside for NYSC, it can be used as a soft loan for the next 5year and it will directly help reduce unemoyment, set up a new businesses and add to the economy.
However we don't reason that way, all we care about is take side based in our religion, tribe or party, let's us continue this way and Nigeria will remain down.
