Keeping your relationship with people around you involves a lot of things, and one of them is being a good listener.

A good listener is someone who takes time to hear another person out especially in time of crises.

If you are someone who feels irritated when people try to explain a certain situation to you, then you are not a good listener!

It takes patience and perseverance to be a good listener though, and only a few people can say they are calm enough to do that.

A good listener, does not jump into conclusions easily, they take time to listen properly and carefully before reaching a conclusion.

A good listener is hardly ever prejudiced about anything or anybody, and that’s a fact!

A number of times, when arguments or even fights break out between two people, it takes a good listener to broker peace!

There was a day I was in a party organized by one of my friends in honor of her mum’s 60th birthday.

One of the invited guests, a female, left her purse and went into the ladies but, before she returned to her seat, her purse was gone!

She raised alarm and immediately there was confusion, the party literally came to a stop because everybody was shaken.

People were stunned as to how someone could come to that kind of party to steal someone’s purse!

Suspicions began; she pointed accusing fingers at a young man standing behind her table the entire time.

The young man was shocked she could accuse him of stealing her purse just because he was standing close by.

So, the lady was asked to explain what happened by one of my friend’s brothers, she did and the guy was asked to explain his.

Before he could open his mouth to say something, the lady in question started yelling at him to keep quiet that he is lying!

She never allowed him say his own side of the story, eventually people in the crowd asked him to stop, as the lady was already out of control.

Within a twinkle of an eye, a lady emerged from the entrance gate and lo and behold was the lady’s purse!

She said when the lady left for the rest room; she saw the bag and reckoned it would be stolen so she had to take it to safety.

People were like, ‘’where were you while everywhere was noisy, didn’t you hear the commotion here?’’

She said, she got an emergency call to come home, her young son was stooling and vomiting and hard to rush out at once!

She apologized for taking the purse away to safety which caused problems and distracted the party.

I was there just wondering what kind of a woman the lady whose purse was taken was, she acted so unruly and uncivilized!

She was too impatient to listen to the other guy’s side of the story, if she did, she would have known the guy was innocent.

Good listeners are naturally well behaved people, well cultured and well mannered!

A good listener proffers solution to difficult situations and never gets tired of listening no matter how many times their attention is needed!

When someone you know is having a meltdown and requests your attention, it’s best to take out time to listen to him or her.

You never know, you might just be saving someone from going down completely or harming themselves.
