Senator Shehu Sani has condemned the recent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and their businesses in south-Africa. Sani, who represents Kaduna central in the house of assembly, wrote on his social media page;

"Attacks on Nigerians in South Africa is unacceptable and condemnable,action must be taken to stem this as its becoming a reoccurring criminality.But we must not allow the activities of few xenophobic elements dictate or derail our long historical ties founded on brotherhood and solidarity with South Africa."

On Saturday, the Nigerian community in south-africa confirmed attacks and looting of Nigerian businesses by south-africans in Pretoria west. According to the president of the Nigerian union in SA, 5 buildings owned by Nigerians including a church were burnt down by south-africans.

One of the buildings was a mechanic garage, containing 28 cars and vital documents which were all destroyed by the fire.

The church was looted and its general overseer was severely beaten and injured.
