So PHCN came to our street located at Alimosho LGA, Ipaja and disconnected our street light. The street light was fixed by the residents of the street. They said we are meant to pay Nepa bill for it. They said they would open an account for the street were the money will be paid into. What am worried about is that isn't the street light meant to be covered by the government? So we have taken it upon ourselves to get it fixed and they still came to disconnect it. The street is now always very dark at night and the security men have said working in such condition is a risk to their life hence they won't work at night anymore. Our safety has been compromised for what is meant to be the responsibility of the government. What is going on? Is this legal?

Remember that power distribution have been privatised. So, you have to pay for any power you consume. Even State Government pay for street lights when they install it

That's my point, are they (state government) not meant to pay for these too?

No. They pay for street lights they install. If you install Street light, you will pay the bill.

The best thing is to get a meter for your street light. No money is too much to pay for security of life and property
