The most important thing is that he has a certificate and was a lecturer. It is better than no certificate at all or hiring 17 SANs to defend you that you actually have a certificate

Professorship has to do with research and publications not necessarily progressing from lecturer 2 to 1 to senior lecturer and then to Associate prof.
My postgraduate supervisor became a professor 4yrs after bagging his PhD.
Nigeria?

Osinbajo started his lecturing career in 1981, became a professor in 1997. That is 16yrs and 16yrs is enough to move to the professorship cadre for a regularly promoted academic.

According to google, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo started as a law lecturer in 1981 and became a Professor in 1997, that is, after 16 years and not 10.
Except for mischieve-making, what does the @Op intend to achieve with his quest having falsified the number of years of service before the award of professorship ?
Has joblessness affected the op's reading perception ?
Or can you please tell us your real motive so we know how to help you ?

LOL, newton n osibanjo, like really, like seriously.... Anao is a genius n most of his research contributed to humanity, let me point out to you mostly prof is awarded to mostly works that have changed or contributed significantly to humanity or to a particular field.... But for me I think osibanjo knew the right people n the political connects cos I have not heard or seen any significant thing he has contributed to his field... So u can just have a masters n stl bag professorship. For example Alia Sabur makes the cut
How many Nigerian professor has thier work significantly contributed to humanity

Becoming a professor then isn't as difficult as it is now. Let me give you a few examples:

1. (Though centuries ago): Isaac Newton became a professor at 24. I need not tell you more about him. Google is your friend.

2. A more recent example and closer to us here is Professor A.R. Anao, the former VC of the University of Benin. He became a professor without earning a PhD. If I'm not mistaking, no Nigerian accounting professor can reckon with this guy. It would be unjust not to appoint him a professor. Besides, in his time, a PhD wasn't a pre-requisite for professorship.

I don't know Osinbajo's story. Maybe it's related to that of Anao.
Prof Anao did wonders in Uniben. He brought sanity to the school .I learnt that you must be into teaching for at least 10 years before you even think of becoming a prof.

I did referenced my source in the write up.

I brought up the issue according to what his close associate - Chief Bisi Akande said as seen here http://newtelegraphonline.com/news/osinbajo-faces-tough-times-aso-rock/

I once heard him speak about this

And this is the way he puts it

'I started lecturing @ 23 & entered the Professorial Cadre 10 years later'

I presume that's when he became an Associate Professor

This may confuse those who are not familiar with the terrain

Haven't you heard people say, "we can find exceptions to almost any rule". He was an exception. He is/was a genius.
Based on his performance as Acting President, I agree. He is genius.

Its possible, all depend on your will power. Its either you study hard or you spend years moving up the ladder gradually. Masters is two years, PhD maximum 5years, and the rest depend on your publications. Get the number require and become a Prof.
But its not that easy anyway considering other factors, it still depend on the individual.

master = 2
phd = 4 or 5

within 3 or 4 years he become prof of law

Op, let me ask you. How did Prof Ogeh,the present Provost of Adeyemi College of Education become a Professor at the age of 45 and within 7yrs of been in academics? Seems you think Osinbajo's own was too short.

This is one reason why Osinbajo's pastoral claim is doubtful. People who rise so fast up the academic ladder and are not deserving of the rise, usually belong to some occultism.

Osinbajo has no PhD, so he couldn't have enjoyed such a rapid promotion from Assistant lecturer to Prof in 10 years. Moreover, Google scholar does not indicate that he's published so widely in reputable international journals.

If we were even to compare him with Wole Soyinka or Achebe in terms of academic output and reputation, it would be like comparing America with Nigeria in terms of development.

Osinbajo is undoubtedly a crook like Thief.nubu, his godfather.
