What is Chemistry?
Chemistry is the physical science that deals with the study of concepts between matter and energy. The keywords to note are: physical science, study, & concept of matter.
For instance, you have any/something to study so as to find out a result to it; that's Chemistry.
BRANCHES OF CHEMISTRY:
1. Analytical/Inorganic Chemistry: deals with analysis of matter. Hence, to gain information to understand matter better. E.g the Chemist.
2. Organic/Bio Chemistry: is applied Chemistry to living organisms & their processes. E.g Micro-Biologist.
3. Applied/Physical Chemistry: is the application of Chemistry for practical purposes. E.g Science Lab-Technician.
MEASUREMENTS IN CHEMISTRY
Scientists around the world came together to adopt Systems of Measurement, so one could communicate to another with it. Imagine, here Mass is known as unit "kg" so that even if you go to London and see "kg" on a thing, you will know that's mass. Easy? Isn't it?

Two systems of measurement are
1. British/English/Imperial System: mainly involves fractions, only few countries adopted it. E.g USA, China.
2. S.I/Metric System: always in base 10, mostly all countries adopted it. E.g Britian, Nigeria.
SCIENTIFIC METHOD:
There's 6 steps in scientific method which are not taken in order.
1. Question: you propose a problem to solve.
2. Hypothesis: you predict the outcome to the problem.
3. Experiment: you run a test to prove or disprove your hypothesis.
4. Observations: you observe the result of the experiment.
5. Analysis: you gain information on your test.
6. Conclusion: you conclude your findings.
Note also this:
Observation=>Experiment=>Hypothesis=>Law>Theory/Model.
As a scientist, you observe, from your observation, you conduct an experiment, from your experiment, you state a hypothesis, if proven, it becomes a law, and if the law is modified, it becomes a theory/model.

CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
There are two things that flash in your mind when you step into a lab. They are:
1. Safety
A. Always wear googles to protect your eyes.
B. Always wear apron/lab coat when dealing with dangerous chemicals.
C. Tie your hair back especially to avoid fire.
D. Dispose used chemicals & waste in appropriate containers.
E. Always wash & clean your hands, etc.
2. Accuracy
Use appropriate lab equipment for accurate measurement. E.g use Beam/Chemical Balance to measure Mass.
