The Supreme Court of Nigeria has ruled that the 44 Unilorin Lecturers who were sacked under controversial circumstances more than eight years ago be reinstated with immediate effect. The lecturers would also receive their salaries and bonuses would be paid in arrears. Sadly, though four of the lecturers died while waiting for this judgement, and the family would be paid their salaries up until the time they died. This is good news! Well done The Supreme Court! I salute the gtenacity of these lecturers who persevered to get justice that they so richly deserve. I wish though that the VC who carried out the now illegal sack should be cautioned somehow. What do u think? |

That's the beauty of Our Justice system. At least corruption has not infiltrated this arm of Government, we all should be proud of what we have, About the VC; he was acting as an agent, employee or officer of the university. This makes the university vicariously liable for acts done by him in the course of his performing his duties as VC. The parties are entitled to damages payable by the University and of course reinstatement, |

Well it is qiute a welcome development.this is one of the factors among others that had been contributing in the incessant industrial action in our university system,though quite suprising that the said institution had never been part of it,while others had been going in sympathy strike for them.What an irony!  |

Kudos to our judicial system. The lecturers are likely to retire and they will get nothing less than 20 million as payment for salaries and allowance. |
