shervydman: Shervy how you dey now? How did you get multiplication instead of addition? Well, I arrived at mine like this: 1 + 4 = 5 .......... 1+4 = 5 2 + 5 = 12 ......... 2 + 5 + 5 = 12 (** 5 here is d total of d 1st equation) 3 + 6 = 21 ......... 3 + 6 + 12 = 21 (** 12 here is d total of 2nd equation) 5 + 8 = ? ........... 5 + 8 + 21 = 34 (** 21 here is d total of 3rd equation) |

vivie01:lol.......i'm fine. thanks. I know how u arrived at ur answer but the answer goes like this. 1 + 4 = 5. its the same thing as 1 * 4 + 1 = 5 2 + 5 = 12. decipher it like this. 2 * 5 + 2 = 12 3 + 6 = 21. ........................... 3 * 6 + 3 = 21 5 + 8= ?. .............................. 5 * 8 + 5 = 45 note: the + changes to * while u add the result with the first number. |

vivie01:lol.....sorry for the word. lets go by ur logic. ..... that's adding the result of the previous equation with the new equation. u'll notice that there's symmetry in the first three equations; like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5....... but not in the fourth equation. the first equation... 1 + 4. the second is 2 + 5 and the third is 3 + 6. take a look at the first figure in each equations, 1, 2, 3. the second figure in each equation 4, 5, 6. the sequence broke off in the fourth equation which is 5 + 8. if we flow with the sequence, there supposed to be 4 + 7 before 5 + 8. now, do this with ur logic 1 + 4 = 5 2 + 5 = 12 3 + 6 = 21 4 + 7 = ? (32) 5 + 8 = ?? 1 Like |
