Java is supposedly platform independent. However therein lies it's limitations with regards to speed. C++ rocks. There are some good cross compilers however issues abound there too. bottom line. it depends on what your projects needs. If speed is really important then C++ is your best bet. ditto for security. We developed the backend of owode.com in C++ because of the above reasons. Easy maintenance? go with Java. |

Even the java designer will not say this. are you just waking up from sleep? have you used photoshop, dreamweaver, 3D Max etc before? that is C/C++. |

Java CAN BE SLOW. The JVM takes some time to start-up. So for the first few seconds, you experience that slowness. If all you want to do is hello world. Please go and use python or php. Java was not meant to do hello world very fast. But for long running processes, that are CPU intensive, have many possibilities for memory leaks and are either single or multithreaded, please try and consider writing the benchmark, or at least copying the code and running it yourself. |
